The Friends of West Hunsbury Parks are pleased to announce that they have received £32,200 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to preserve the Hill Fort and parkland. Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, this exciting project starts in March 2018 & will engage the local community with a programme of family-orientated events, giving them a sense of ownership and developing an appreciation of this historic site in the history of Northamptonshire.
These educational and participative events include family activity days with habitat surveys & a Bioblitz in partnership with The Wildlife Trust. The HLF funding will additionally facilitate the development of an interesting trail around the main features of the Hillfort and surrounding park with new signage.
Commenting on the award, Mavis Wilmshurst, Friends of West Hunsbury Parks Chairman said:
“We are delighted to have received support, thanks to National Lottery players, and are really looking forward to engaging young people as visitors or volunteers to develop their knowledge and skills in this unique place in Northamptonshire”
The Friends of West Hunsbury Parks are a friendly and enthusiastic Group always keen to recruit new volunteers with interests in wildlife & history, to assist with their activities, with as much or as little time as they can spare.
